Applying Ontology in the Analysis of a DSS Research Collaboration Network

Abstract:

This work presents the specification of an ontology model for the EWG-DSS-Collab-Net network analysis. The EWG-DSS-Collab-Net was designed to show the research collaboration dynamics among the EWG-DSS members. It considers a publication relationship structured model, with authors-publications and multiple keywords and topics. The social network analysis shows co-authorships and co-citations overtime. In order to refine the identification of publications that are closely related to a given topic, an ontology model is specified. This way, a common vocabulary of classifications relative to the main areas of the publications can be defined and matched with the existing publications key-words.
